1889 CC Morgan Dollar This unique coin has not seen the light of day for over 50 years. It was left to my farther by his farther then to me. It has several, what looks like soft strike impressions, from not enough material or simply a soft strike. Although there are several the best example is the last two letters in Liberty (front side) The coin has several on both sides. (Check the stars on the back side) It also has what appear to be marks, from debris material from pre-struck coins left in the die. (Check the arrow heads on the back and the “I” in united and the “T” in states. Because of the nature of these marks they simply don’t appear to be from handling. I have self studied the grading scales and would place this coin in the XF-40 and somewhat under AU-53. (I seen no reason the pay to have it graded because of all the comparable coins pictured on line) Only you, the perspective buyer, can decide the uniqueness of the special markings I’ve described.
