Used Volvo AQ151B Take Out Motors
These engines were in the boat running and were taken out by us during a complete repower. Both engines have excellent compression (145 at crank) and oil pressure of 45 pounds at crank. The cooling tanks still have coolant. There is only the corrosion shown as the pictures are the condition when the engines were removed. No cleaning was done to the engines or drives. I have never heard the engines run as the customer had the boat brought to us. The drives and all other rigging is included. Please do not ask further questions as the information above is all that is know. By the way, the customer was 82 years old and very particular about his vintage Bertram.

This engine has a bad reputation for having the number 4 cylinder fill with sea water due to corrosion between the exhaust manifold and the head, can you take some pictures of this area or would you be willing to pull the exhaust manifold off the to see if there is serious corrosion present? By the way, the repair is extremely expensive - over $4000 per engine, so this is a very important thing to ascertain before you sell them - this can cause you, the seller, major grief with the buyer if these motors have this problem. | A: | Thanks for the tip, but both of these engines already have the repair. We have been doing this repair for years with good results. At the starting price of 250.00 I see no problem with either of these engines and drives hurting anyone. They are in very clean condition. As to the repair costing 4000.00, line them up and I'll make a killing. (you may be a BIT high) I had to do some searching but i did find the pictures of the repair we offer and even posted them to the web site. click on service tips. |
